RESEARCH ISSUE: Child Labour
Aims and project plan
Children are future of any society and in turn they shape the world’s future. That is why the issue of child labour is an area of concern for all the policy makers, social scientist, researchers and judiciary. Child labour does not seem to be considered a much important global issue. ILO estimated that there are 190.7 million current child labours in the world most of which are in developing countries which have a poor economy but its effects are disastrous thus we felt that by researching this topic we could then spread awareness to all age groups about this topic and get the attention
it deserves.
By the end of this project we want to answer the following questions:
• Which countries is child labour most prominent in?
• What factors have forced the children to do the child labour?
• How far is my country working to eradicate child labour?
• What is the status of child labour in my locality?
• What are the causes of child labour?
• What can I do to reduce child labour?
• Perspectives of child labourers, employer, parent, social workers and teachers and common
man
• What are the conditions of these children?
Our project plan is to research the major aspects of child labour such as the condition of child labourers, causes of child labour and the measures taken towards it. We plan to do this by interviewing a variety of perspectives such as social workers, employers, parents etc.
Intended Project Outcome
Our intended project outcome is a documentary. In the documentary we will include various different interviews
from a variety of perspectives. We will also include clippings of child labour occurring and us the group members
will talk about the different aspects of child labour. We intended not to use professional help and make the project outcome on our own without any professional help and we were successful help.
Rationale
We are lucky to have taken birth in well to do families. Today in our locality we see many children who are employed and do hazardous jobs to earn a living for their families. We are lucky that we are not born in these families. We decided that child labour is a growing problem in the society. We have to join hands and fight against the cruelty to children because in our own moral sense we know it’s wrong. Just recently we saw a child with terrible burns working at a factory. This sparked a sense of empathy in our group and we knew that it was our job to raise awareness towards this topic therefore we chose this topic.
